Auden, W. H.

  1. A British-born twentieth-century American writer and critic. He is best known for his poetry, which was influenced by his experiences in the Spanish Civil War and, later, by his preoccupation with Christianity. Auden's works include collections such as The Double Man and The Dyer's Hand.
