In this latest move to discredit his predecessor, Trump took aim at the aides' use of an autopen - a device that replicates signatures which presidents, including Trump, have used for decades - to sign executive actions.

Trump has been notably fixated on Biden during the first few months of his second term, attacking the ex-president's use of an autopen and floating the idea of reversing presidential pardons that Biden granted to his family members.

As if that were not enough to settle the matter, it concluded, “the President may sign a bill within the meaning of Article I, Section 7 by directing a subordinate to affix the President’s signature to such a bill, for example by autopen.”

Surely, that authority encompasses the choice of whether to use an autopen.
