Thousands of people gathered on Saturday morning to remember a firefighter who died alongside a colleague and a member of the public in a major blaze.

Mr Reilly returned to the property in the early hours to try to survey the damage and saw firefighters helping an older person to safety.

Around 45 minutes had passed and the place was full of locals, firefighters, ambulance workers and Air India staff.

“He likes to play arsonist and firefighter,” Carbajal said in an interview.
