A former defence lawyer for the jailed drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" �ҳܳ���á�� has been elected as a judge in Mexico's first-ever judicial elections.

Among the candidates in Chihuahua state is Silvia Rocío Delgado, a one-time lawyer for the notorious “El Chapo” �ҳܳ���á��, now serving a life sentence in the United States for narcotics trafficking, murder and other crimes.

Conspicuously absent from the short biography on her pamphlets is the name of her best-known client: she was the defence lawyer for the notorious drug lord, Joaquin "El Chapo" �ҳܳ���á��.

"The Sinaloa Cartel is not only 'El Chapo' Guzman. It is a company that has criminal and economic interests which are being resolved in the justice system. The cartel could pressure her to show loyalty because she has already been their employee."

The mayor's private secretary, Ximena �ҳܳ���á��, and Brugada's adviser, José Muñoz, were killed on their way to work on Tuesday morning local time.
