McCurtain County is in far southeast Oklahoma, in the forested foothills of the Ouachita mountains, bordering Arkansas and Texas.

With its rolling, forested hills in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains, the area has become a tourism hotbed attracting a steady stream of visitors from the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Major often prospects in the abundant quartz deposits in the Ouachita Mountains in Arkansas, but he has also unearthed quartz geodes as big as basketballs on a riverbank in Missouri; bright blue chunks of azurite and malachite from an old copper mine near Moab, Utah; and fire agates from southeast Arizona.

Rep. Justin Humphrey’s district includes the heavily forested Ouachita Mountains in southeast Oklahoma, where a Bigfoot festival is held each year.
