The Iranian Red Crescent also said three of its first responders were killed when an ambulance was hit by an Israeli strike in Tehran's Shahid Bagheri district on Monday.

Footage posted online by Palestinian journalists Mohammad Salama and Hala Asfour on Wednesday showed the boy and his mother getting into a Red Crescent ambulance and waving goodbye as they made their way out of Gaza.

The Israeli military has released a Palestinian paramedic detained when Israeli troops killed 15 other emergency workers in southern Gaza last month, the Palestine Red Crescent Society said.

The Red Crescent and several other international organisations have previously called for an independent investigation into the incident.

The Palestinian Red Crescent rejected the allegation, as did the other surviving paramedic.
