Central time vs. Eastern time: What’s the difference?

Central time is exactly one hour behind Eastern time. For example, when it is 3 p.m. in Eastern time (such as in Philadelphia), it is 2 p.m. in Central time (such as in Chicago). Central time is the time zone immediately to the west of Eastern time.
