The insurer Aetna, which is owned by CVS, is also monitoring any changes federal officials make to COVID-19 vaccine eligibility “and will evaluate whether coverage adjustments are needed.”

The project brings together three large insurers — Health Net, Aetna and Blue Shield of California — and 10 independent practices across the state with the goal of improving care while boosting revenue for the medical groups.

At least one company, Aetna, even had a training tape showing how to process claims differently for those with and without a right to sue.

Those companies, along with Aetna’s parent company CVS, “were intentionally denying claims for this expensive care to increase profits,” according to The New York Times.

Oz also had smaller stakes in CVS Health, which now includes the insurer Aetna, and in the insurer Cigna.
