Footage from the Israeli city of Ashkelon showed flashes in the sky as sirens wailed and an explosion at the bottom of a block of flats during the rocket attack on Sunday night.

His family came from the town now known as Ashkelon, which is close to the northern border of the Gaza Strip.

Two vessels went aground in Gaza near the base of the pier and two went aground near Ashkelon in Israel.
