Residents of Bentham, a town in North Yorkshire, are taking legal action against a firefighting foam manufacturer over potential health risks caused by "forever chemicals" found in soils and groundwater.

North Yorkshire Police said the animal had been euthanised after it killed Savannah Bentham at her family home near Malton in North Yorkshire on Friday.

Savannah Bentham suffered serious injuries after being attacked at about 16:15 GMT on Friday and despite efforts by medical professionals, died at the scene near Malton in North Yorkshire, police said.

Emergency services are at the scene off Bentham Road near Burton in Lonsdale, after the crash happened just before midday.

Even if the war ended tomorrow it could take months or years to render the Black Sea safe, Mr Bentham says, as Ukraine has defended its coastline with mines and strategically sunken ships.
