Last month, Chasid Sapolu, Honolulu’s second-highest-ranking prosecutor, announced a leave of absence after receiving a subject letter, which is less serious than a target letter.

First Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Chasid Sapolu released a statement through his lawyer Thursday saying he is not a target of the investigation and has done nothing wrong.

“Yes, being a Chasid can be about a certain seriousness and quiet. But there’s also a lot of fun and a lot of camaraderie, the kinds of things we all long for.”
