Birmingham's long-running bin strikes, now in their eighth week, are part of an ongoing dispute between the city council and the Unite union over bin workers' pay.

However, the city council has said a "fair and reasonable offer" has been made and "not a single worker needs to lose a penny".

In recent months, the City Council — Dunsmuir officials note it is the only city council in all of California made up entirely of millennials — is looking to add waterfalls to the marketing package.

A deal could now be "in touching distance", the union said, but it accused the city council of "saying one thing in public and another in the negotiations".
