“Appalachian Spring” was, for Copland, that restoration, but a rebuilding in an entirely new spirit.

Copland’s original composition was created for a traditional orchestra and is cinematic, much like the ballet.

The lively rhythmic sections had more ferocity than usual, a reminder of Copland’s original purpose.
