Sen. Cory Booker’s 25-hour speech in Congress was another great conflict-embracing move.

And while I believe that there are far too many elected Democrats whose response has been tepid or, worse, non-existent, I am uplifted to see leaders like Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Sen. Cory Booker, Chris Murphy and Bernie Sanders, and Representatives like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jasmine Crockett grasp the urgency of this dangerous time.

Still, there are levers Democrats can pull, like when New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker held the Senate floor for 25 hours to rail against the Trump administration, while also conceding that his party has made some serious mistakes.

“I think we totally blew it with Biden. We have so many young Democrats who are strong. I love what Cory Booker did—oh my gosh, that was moving,” Arscott said.

New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker's 24-hr floor speech, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez of New York and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders' Fighting Oligarchy Tour, Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollan's trip to the Salvadoran prison to see wrongfully deported immigrant Kilmar Obrego Garcia are all excellent examples of tactics to expose the Trump administration's extreme policies to more media scrutiny.
