There was another Gavin & Stacey reference elsewhere in the ceremony, when host Alan Cumming asked Rob Brydon to finally answer the question of what happened on the show's notorious fishing trip.

It looks like Gavin and Stacey fans will never know what happened on that fishing trip after a star of the comedy put any reboot speculations to bed.

Maximo Napa Castro, 61, set off for what should have been a two-week fishing trip from the coastal town of Marcona, on the southern Peruvian coast, on 7 December.

The clip gives us our first ever look at the fishing trip itself, with both Brydon and Wilfort appearing as younger versions of their Gavin and Stacey characters.

"Jason discovers Bryn watching a video of the fishing trip which Bryn has kept after all these years," explained Wilfort.
