Among the places where residents and merchants say foot traffic is way down include the normally bustling MacArthur Park area, downtown Downey and the Fashion District, which saw a large immigration raid June 6.

The Fashion District’s Business Improvement District, a private group of property owners in the area, said the area has seen a sharp falloff in foot traffic since the raid at Ambiance Apparel.

Most weekdays the foot traffic and the din of business are constant in Grand Central Market, a food hall and staple of downtown’s historic core since 1917.
