Widely acclaimed when it premiered in the U.S. last fall, the FX series, adapted from Patrick Radden Keefe’s award-winning book of the same name, has inspired an intense, complicated reaction in Ireland, where the subject matter hits close to the bone.

Most recently, Treat Williams earned a nod last year for his supporting turn in the FX limited series “Feud: Capote vs. the Swans.”

Rising from the coffin of a hilarious but obscure mockumentary feature about four sort-of loser vampire housemates in suburban New Zealand, the FX sitcom shifted the action to Staten Island and cast its undead ensemble as blithely murderous, petty, pansexual and often dim-witted.

Meanwhile in drama series, “Shōgun” won last year, parachuting into the category from limited series when FX gave it the go-ahead for another season or two.
