Lucero Garcia told The Times she was concerned about her 61-year-old uncle, Candido, who was detained June 9 as he worked at his job at Magnolia Car Wash in Fountain Valley.

Job Garcia, a 33-year-old doctoral student at Claremont College, was picking up an order at Home Depot for a customer.

He texted his brother Elias Garcia around 7:59 a.m.:

Mexican federal and state authorities from Baja California executed a search warrant “for crimes against national health,” according to a post on X from Omar Hamid García Harfuch, Mexico’s secretary of Security and Civilian Protection.
