A police witness, Garda Colm Collins, told the inquest he had received a call at 14:00 that day after a male was seen falling off the edge of the Cliffs of Moher.

Photographs from the scene show a garda cordon blocking access to a property up a small county lane.

Their last known location was near a mountain hut called Casina Dosson, close to the town of Tione Di Trento, near Riva Del Garda on Lake Garda.

The new site is a piece of open ground which will be "subject to excavation, technical and forensic examinations," a garda statement said.

But Garda sources have always indicated that they do not believe her disappearance was linked to any of the other cases.
