I tend to loathe the way these four-quadrant movies invent subhuman villains — robots, aliens, bug-things and the like — so that the good guys can bash their brains in without a moral tizzy.

That Russia is really the good guy in all of this?

"My feeling is that if Trump has trusted him as much as he has, than he must be a pretty good guy with the right ideas and the right goals."

Maybe this would all be too depressing to bear if we didn’t know that the good guys eventually triumph.

To have both parties centering themselves so firmly in this dispute doesn't achieve what either seems to want — to look like the good guy here, the one who is telling the truth.
