Federal investigators traced the cases back to a single grower, but the Food and the Drug Administration didn’t disclose the name.

A federal court case has revealed the name of the grower behind a deadly 2024 E. coli outbreak linked to romaine lettuce, Food Safety News reported Friday.

Douglass said in an email that many growers are already struggling with chronic labor shortages, inflation and other challenges, and that retaliatory measures by other countries could lead to more instability for the industry.
