In January, the Cut published a piece by the writer Katie Heaney about her “breast reduction from hell.”

“This was comforting to hear,” Heaney writes, “but it also made me wonder why nobody warned me before.”

He also praised "great wordsmiths" from Northern Ireland including the poet Seamus Heaney, novelist Anna Burns and musician Van Morrison.

Heaney claims the care he received while training and playing matches during his rugby league career was insufficient.

One of the claimants in the rugby league case is Roy Heaney, 64, who played for Wigan and Salford in the 1980s having initially played football for Liverpool reserves and Bolton Wanderers.
