The Hortmans were tragically killed in a politically motivated attack on June 14, alongside State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, who were wounded but survived.

Yvette Hoffman, who survived the attack, was released from the hospital on Thursday, while her husband remains in care.

“I’d like to say on behalf of the state of Minnesota, the heroic actions by the Hoffman family and their daughter, Hope, saved countless lives, and we are grateful,” he said.

What was on her mind were the murders of former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman, a Democrat, and her husband Mark, as well as the shootings of State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette.

He also wounded another Democratic state lawmaker, John Hoffman, and his wife at their home in what authorities believe was a well-planned, violent rampage.
