Advocates point to the case of a 17-year-old Honduran in Hawaii whose older brother had been detained by federal agents.

The Honduran national police and fire department separately said five people had been rescued, while one person is yet to be found.

“These people need love, understanding, someone to take care of them,” the Honduran immigrant said in Spanish.

So far, Honduran officials have confirmed only one death but said that more than 110,000 people had been affected by the storm.
