Scranton—famously, Joe Biden’s hometown—is a staunchly blue dot in Lackawanna County, a historically Democratic district that over the years has shifted to battleground territory.

In 2012 Obama carried Lackawanna by 30 points, but in 2020, Biden held on by only 8.

In the 2024 presidential election, Trump won the state, but narrowly lost Lackawanna County, where Scranton is located, to then-Vice-President Kamala Harris.
