White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, responding to a direct question from Fox News’ Peter Doocy, attempted to clean up the mess by suggesting that Bondi had misspoken — apparently over a period of months — about the Epstein files.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt scrambled to make amends for Bondi’s apparent faux pas on Monday, saying that Bondi’s list was metaphorical, and that she was referring to the “entirety of all of the paperwork.”

Fox News’ Peter Doocy was among the unsatisfied, and he laid into Leavitt over the anticlimax.

“She was saying the entirety of all of the paperwork — all of the paper — in relation to Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes,” Leavitt replied.

When Leavitt attempted to answer, Doocy cut her off with a direct quote from the head of the Department of Justice.
