A separate wind warning for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo is in place from 15:00 on Sunday to midnight.

The highest level of warning has been issued for Mayo, Clare, Galway, Donegal, Leitrim, Wicklow and Sligo.

In Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo, the alert is in place until 02:00 on Monday, with County Donegal's in effect until 08:00.

It has also issued a status orange warning for rain in counties Waterford, Kerry, Clare, Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim over the same time period.

Met Éireann is forecasting coastal flooding, difficult travel conditions, and dangerous seas along counties Clare, Kerry, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo.
