"Today's ruling does not prevent the continued detention of Ms. Ozturk, and we will continue to fight for the arrest, detention, and removal of aliens who have no right to be in this country," Department of Homeland Security Spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin told NPR after the ruling.

Tricia McLaughlin, an assistant secretary at the Department of Homeland Security, responded after his release, saying "no judge, not this one or another, is going to stop the Trump Administration from restoring the rule of law to our immigration system".

Trump pollster John McLaughlin told the outlet that he's "certain" Trump would face impeachment if Democrats retook the House during the 2026 midterm elections.

McLaughlin said GOP lawmakers should have a sense of urgency and work to right Trump's underwater polling on the economy if they want to avoid a record third impeachment.

"We need to pass the tax cuts and avoid a recession," McLaughlin said.
