Trump has asked Congress to cut off federal funding from public media outlets PBS and NPR, calling their programming “left wing propaganda.”

Sen. Ron Johnson, a Republican from Wisconsin among those seeking to decrease spending in the bill, told NPR this week that it has “no chance of passing” the Senate in its current form.

The bill has yet to pass the Senate, but one senior White House official told NPR it would be an “all-out advocacy effort” to get the bill through the upper chamber.
