In Staffordshire, the Royal British Legion will host an anniversary tea party and service of remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum on Thursday, bringing together one of the largest gatherings of WW2 veterans and their families on VE Day.

Tara Knights, of the Royal British Legion, said: "We will be running educational and community engagement programmes to encourage everyone to get involved in this momentous occasion."

Later in the year, on 15 August, a service led by the Royal British Legion will be held at the National Memorial Arboretum, Staffs, to commemorate VJ Day, or Victory in Japan Day, and the end of the war.

And so she takes that message with her in the evenings when she's teaching her bagpipe class at the Banchory Royal British Legion Club.

The games aim to "inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who have served their country", the Royal British Legion said.
