On Tuesday, Deputy K’Lynn Jackson, school resource officer for the Moorpark Unified School District, responded to reports from Campus Canyon College Preparatory Academy — a K-8 public school — that a student was in possession of a single round of ammunition that he had been showing to his friends.

At Apalachee High School, where a student killed four and injured nine more, a school resource officer was on site, and though they quickly stopped the shooter, they were unable to prevent those gun-inflicted deaths and injuries.

Colt Gray, charged with four counts of murder on Thursday, was in the midst of his first full day of school at Apalachee High School when he shot 13 students before surrendering to a school resource officer.

After the fatal shooting Wednesday, the 14-year-old suspect surrendered to a school resource officer and is currently in custody.

Per Georgia investigators, Gray was stopped by a school resource officer on-site at the school during the shooting and surrendered.
