A small creature called a sea pen, which helps to build reefs, could lose up to 40% of their suitable habitat by the end of the century.

The Dolphin Company, based in Mexico, had agreed to help move Lolita to a natural sea pen in the Pacific Northwest when it took over ownership of the Seaquarium in 2022.

Earlier this year, the county and the Seaquarium reached a deal with donors on a plan to transport Lolita, and potentially Li’i, to a sea pen in the Pacific Northwest.

In fact, Norway is the world's largest producer of farmed salmon, raising millions of the fish in sea pens scattered throughout its jagged fjords.
