"We took it up with SpiceJet and we ensured they took corrective action. We also found out that the senior management was not fully aware of the situation. We took action against the various post holders who were supposed to ensure compliance with the original equipment manufacturer and other regulations. We directed SpiceJet to remove them and suspend a few of them which they did," he said.

He is prevented from holding any senior management position in a charity in England and Wales for three years - and was noted by the commission to lack the good judgement expected of a trustee.

Arrest warrants have also been issued for other members of the magazine's senior management.

His other senior management experience came from caretaker spells at Coventry, Brentford and Birmingham but he is at ease in Slovakia and it shows.

The independent report, led by Prof Pamela Gillies, found the main causes included poor financial judgement from university bosses and weak governance from the university court, which is meant to hold senior management to account.
