Through the 1970s and 1980s, Derringer turned his focus to performing as a session musician, collaborating with acts including Steely Dan, Todd Rundgren, Kiss and Barbra Streisand.

With the Band’s demise, Hudson settled into a consistent life as a session musician, appearing on records by Poco, Van Morrison, the Call, Camper Van Beethoven, Mary Gauthier and many others.

Featuring previously unseen footage, it traces the star's journey from jobbing session musician to global superstar, as well as his struggles with addiction, becoming a father and the conclusion of his farewell tour in 2023.

He also worked as a studio session musician and played with the Cyril Stapleton band.
