A rusty car jack is helping prevent the shop floor above from falling in.

A spokesperson confirmed a voluntary leave scheme had opened to shop floor and office staff at the Sunderland plant this week.

"When they found it, they knew it was something special, and it wasn't put out on the shop floor," said Mr Reeves.

Mr Leighton said the supermarket was looking to put more staff on the shop floor, but acknowledged regaining customers' trust in the brand would take time.

She adds that she "wasn't thinking about the girls on the shop floor" and "wasn't thinking about anybody else other than myself".
