Depending on Iran's next move, the US commander-in-chief may decide at the last minute to remain in the Situation Room in Washington.

The Republican president reportedly is considering helping target the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities, following a meeting with his national security advisers in the White House Situation Room on Tuesday.

The group chat appears to suggest that the officials' discussion was one that had continued from the White House Situation Room, one of the most secure venues in the US government.

Karlin said these types of conversations should take place in a secure space, in the Pentagon or in the Situation Room in the White House, not in a Signal group chat.

This drastic shift was pitched as part of a broader reconfiguration of CNN's lineup, which also bumps “The Situation Room” host Wolf Blitzer out of his long-held evening berth into Acosta’s former slot where he's set to co-anchor with Pamela Brown starting in March.
