The documentary features five women who recount the abuse they suffered at the hands of grooming gangs, which it said revealed failures by police and social services.

“We are going to be paying hundreds of millions of dollars that could be invested into the communities, into parks, libraries, beaches, public social services, until 2050,” said L.A.

It is an intervention project funded by Birmingham City Council, working closely with social services.

“They have no other financial activities or resources which can enable them to adapt to climate change or to face natural disasters, and their access to social services and protection is very limited.”

He said food parcels would have to go to those most in need who had been referred by social services, doctors or charities.
