Somerset Island Prep held a Jet Ski graduation ceremony that took place on the water and complied with coronavirus social distancing measures.

Somerset Island Preparatory is Key West’s only charter high school, established a decade ago.

Unlike bowheads, belugas will travel hundreds of miles to reach their “day spa” on the Cunningham Inlet along Somerset Island, to the northwest of Baffin.

The passage led to the lee of North Somerset Island, and a towering headland of basalt protected the ship from the fury of the south wind.

Roald Amundsen, Norway's hero-explorer, in a three-year trip and with the loss of one of his seven men, traversed the first Northwest Passage*�Baffin Bay, Barrow Straight, along the west coast of North Somerset Island to Cambridge Bay and out to Beaufort Sea and the Pacific.
