Thousands of South Korean medical students are set to return to classes after a 17-month long boycott, the Korean Medical Association has announced.

More than half of South Koreans say they want kids but can't afford them, according to a UN report.

Taeil, 31, and two accomplices, named in South Korean reports only as Lee and Hong, admitted in June to taking turns assaulting their victim - a Chinese tourist.

“Our stance is that the South Korean government will adhere to the 12th SMA, which was agreed upon and implemented in a legitimate manner.”

South Korean courts have in the past ruled against North Korea on similar claims of abuse made by South Koreans but such verdicts are largely symbolic and ignored by Pyongyang.
