For fire zones, the company can tailor its designs to include cementitious cladding, metal roofs, tempered glass and rooftop sprinkler systems, Glenn said.

The commission’s members also called for prioritizing additional water storage capacity in neighborhoods, and systems with external sprinklers to douse homes, parks and schools.

They added that much of the Southern California farmland that relies on Colorado River water is “either fully or partially irrigated via flood irrigation, which uses much more water than drip and sprinkler irrigation.”

Maintenance and restoration staffers started sprinklers atop the buildings and on hillsides, she said.
