When his wife, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, went on to run in his place she attracted huge crowds.

The last time he and Svetlana were together she was a housewife and he was the political one.

But Svetlana tells me she is wary of the next US move.

"The leader of the opposition is Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, my wife, and I don't make any claim to anything," Tikhanovsky clarified on Sunday, insisting that he had no intention of taking over leadership of the Belarusian opposition abroad.
