When she was 7 years old, Ms. Cara sang with her father’s band at nightclubs and landed a part in an off-Broadway show based on “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” — while also rearranging parts of her last name into a shortened version, Cara.

If the CW network wanted to turn Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” into a teenage-friendly show, it would look something like this graphic novel, “Hollow,” which is more gently spooky than intensely macabre.

Among them: A collection of vintage science-fiction comics, a coming-of-age take on “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” and a series about the survivors of a cataclysm.

Disney paired Mr. Toad’s story with an adaptation of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, which meant they couldn’t go too deep into the supernatural on their first attempt:

Landing on Ichabod Crane and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” as a spooky theme, Lee and her team hired local playwright/composer Justin Huertas to script a storyline, and worked with local actors and artists to create videos, which would be revealed throughout the week.
