The first class in October was funded by actor Keanu Reeves, who is a friend of Szlasa’s, with the second bankrolled by the United Way.

We’ve had tremendous support from Wallis Annenberg, United Way, Shonda Rhimes, Berry Gordy, just so many individuals who have supported.

Some United Way centers may also provide tax return assistance for those who earn below $60,000 a year.

The organization, the United Way and local community foundations make up the rest of the funds needed for Imagination Library.

Money poured into thousands of different recipients, from venerable nonprofits such as the United Way and Habitat for Humanity, to individual families through GoFundMe, to specialized groups working to replace burned musical instruments and stuffed animals.
