The court heard that when officers visited the site on 28 May last year they found 13 Welsh ponies at the property and another six in a field outside.

Inspectors with the state Livestock Board say the Welsh pony named Rocky had flesh cut from his body and removed from the scene.

The charges stem from a cat found in a hole in a wall and a Welsh pony that veterinarians said was lame.

The owner told authorities that he had four Welsh ponies and discovered them dead on Sunday.

A little Welsh pony had a "very luck" escape after becoming trapped in a muddy ditch up to her neck - with only her ears not covered in mud.
