Federal scientists recently were ordered not to attend a meeting of the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

"Carbon removal is necessary. If you want to reach net zero emissions and net zero emissions is needed to halt further warming," says Dr Oliver Geden who's part of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and an expert in carbon capture.

Mia Mottley, chair of the intergovernmental group Caricom, said the region was facing the most challenging of times since its 15 member states gained independence several decades ago.

"In the interim, the leaders agreed that conversations between the Minister of International Trade and Intergovernmental Affairs and President of the King's Privy Council for Canada, Dominic LeBlanc, and the United States Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, will intensify to address immediate concerns," the statement said.

Dan Koh, President Biden’s deputy director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, was the next federal leader to reach out offering support.
